Working Group 1 Meeting in Tallinn (Estonia), 29-May - 2 June 2012
"The Warm Universe - Astrochemistry at Intermediate and Elevated Temperatures"
The third meeting of Working group 1 “Radical-and ion-induced reactions” of the COST Action ”The Chemical Cosmos: Understanding Chemistry in Astronomical Environments” will take place at Meriton Grand Conference & Spa Hotel, Tallinn, Estonia from May 29th to June 2nd, 2011. The meeting will be organised as a joint meeting between the COST Action "The Chemical Cosmos: Understanding Chemistry in Astronomical Environments" and the Nordic Astrobiology Network. It will start on Tuesday, May 29 in the morning and finish on Saturday June 2 Lunchtime. A special session "Nordic Highlights in Astrobiology" is planned for the morning of Saturday June 2, to which all participants are cordially invited.
Important: The meeting is open to all interested scientists and students, also those outside the working group and the COST Action and the Nordic Astrobiology Network. However, the organisers reserve the right to refuse participants.
This year's meeting is devoted to the subject "The Warm Universe - Astrochemistry at Intermediate and Elevated Temperatures". Many different astronomical environments and objects showing higher temperatures (star-forming regions, protoplanetary disks, circumstellar envelopes, cometary comae as well as planetary and satellite atmospheres) exhibit very interesting chemistry. The HERSCHEL space telescope has delivered a lot of new data on many objects falling under this category and future observations with the ALMA millimetre array will explore their fine structure and chemistry. Aim of this event is to update experimentalists and theoreticians about new findings concerning warmer environments in space and, hopefully provide a forum to discuss new research ideas and projects.
The website of the conference can be accessed here.
Deadline for registration, accommodation booking and abstract submission: 15 April 2012
Working group meeting in Prague (Czech Republic), 17-19 May 2011
The second meeting of Working group 1 “Radical-and ion-induced reactions” of the COST Action ”The Chemical Cosmos: Understanding Chemistry in Astronomical Environments” will take place at Profesni Dum in Prague, Czech Republic from May 17 to May 19, 2011. The meeting will start on Tuesday, May 17 in the morning and finish on Thursday May 19 in the evening. Important: The meeting is also open to interested scientists and students outside the working group and the COST Action.
This year's meeting is devoted to the subject "Ion Chemistry in space". The HERSCHEL Space telescope has delivered a cornocopia of data on ions in space including a handful of new detections. Aim of this event is to update experimentalists and theoreticians about these new findings and inform astronomers about the recent developments in theoretical and experimental research in the area of ion chemistry.
Deadline for registration: 15 March 2011
Deadline for abstract submission: 15 April 2011
The website of the meeting can be found here.
Working group meeting in Boppard (Germany), 9-12 May 2010
The first meeting of Working group 1 "Radical-and ion-induced reactions" of the COST Action "Understanding the Chemical Cosmos: Chemistry in Astronomical Environments" will take place at Hotel Ebertor in Boppard, Germany from May 9 to May 12, 2010. Detailed information about the meeting can be found here.
The meeting will focus on the new possibilities that the ALMA telescope array offers to astrochemists and is open to interested scientists outside the working group.
A draft programme has been sent out to the members of Working group 1 and further details about the event are found by clicking the links in the box to the left.
There will also be a meetings of Working Group 1 under the COST conference,
Grenoble, France, 5-8 October 2010.
