Boppard

The picturesque town of Boppard offers a lot of attractions. This includes boat rips on the Rhine, spectacular views (one can take up the chair lift to see the famous “Vierseenblick”) from where the Rhine looks (almost) like 4 lakes. For the adventurous there is even the possibility to go rock-climbing on a path offering stunning views over the Rhine.
Boat trips are offer by the Köln Düsseldorfer line, the Loreley Linie and the Hebel Linie.
For those more inclined towards cultural sights. In the centre near the Rhine there is the Electoral Castle, a Roman castle and several Churches.
On the culinary side, the excellent wines from the Bopparder Hamm are to be mentioned. There is also a mustard mill “Senfmühle”, where there is some good mustard produced and rapeseed oil from the nearby Hunsrück hills are sold.
Boppard has been the home of the furniture designer Michael Thonet, the nuclear physicist Fritz Strassmann and the composer Engelbert Humperdinck.
