Odile Dutuit, Roland Thissen and Véronique Vuitton form a team of experimentalists. They perform measurements related to the description of atmospheric chemistry, and more precisely ionospheric chemistry of Titan. The experimental method is taking advantage of a high resolution mass spectrometer (LTQ Orbitrap) in order to analyse complex material analog to titan aerosols and also to perform one to one ion molecule reactions of interest in Titan ionosphere. The instrument allows for specific characterization of reactant and product ions by means of the high resolution and exact mass and MS/MS methods. The Exact mass gives access to the stoechiometry of ions , and the MS/MS gives access to their structure and functionality. These measurements feed a chemical model of Titan atmosphere that was assembled by Veronique Vuitton and Roger Yelle.
